How to Add a City Events Calendar in WordPress

Council meetings, public hearings, community programs — a government’s calendar is public information, and residents should be able to find it in seconds. This guide shows how to add a filterable city events calendar in WordPress using the Egovt theme’s Event Management system.

Building it with Egovt’s Events module

1. Add each event

Go to Events → Add New Event, write the title and description, then set the event details:

• Start and end date and time.
• The venue, plus a map with address, latitude and longitude.
• The organizer, with email, phone and a website link.
• A gallery of images for the event.

2. Organize with types and tags

Events have two taxonomies — Types and Tags. Create types like “Council Meeting”, “Public Hearing” or “Community” under Events → Types, and use tags for finer labels. These power the front-end filtering.

3. Show the calendar and lists
